What Is A Big Mac?

Firstly, before we dive into the recipe, let’s answer the burning question: What is a Big Mac? Well, if you have not already had the pleasure of indulging in one of these iconic burgers, allow me to enlighten you. A Big Mac is a classic burger offered by McDonald’s, consisting of two beef patties, a special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions. All of this is then sandwiched between a sesame seed bun. Consequently, it has become a quintessential fast food favourite loved by millions around the world for its irresistible flavour and comforting familiarity.

Big Mac Tacos Instructions

Prepare the Big Mac Sauce:

Firstly, in a small bowl, gather the following ingredients: mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, white vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Measure out the specified quantities of each ingredient before combining them in the bowl. Use a spoon or whisk to thoroughly mix all the ingredients together until they are well combined and form a smooth sauce. Once mixed, cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid to prevent the sauce from drying out. Place the bowl of Big Mac sauce in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.

Cook the Ground Beef and Onions:

Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. While the oil is heating up, finely dice one small onion. Once the oil is hot, add the diced onions to the pan and cook them until they become soft and translucent, which should take about 3-4 minutes. Once the onions are softened, add the minced beef to the pan. Use a wooden spoon or spatula to break apart the minced beef as it cooks, ensuring it cooks evenly. Cook the minced beef until it is browned and fully cooked through. However, if there is any excess grease in the pan after cooking the minced beef, carefully drain it off.

Season the Beef:

With the minced beef fully cooked, it is time to add some extra flavour. Firstly, sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and pepper over the cooked beef. Stir the seasonings into the beef until they are evenly distributed. Taste the beef and adjust the seasonings if necessary, adding more salt and pepper to suit your preference.

Warm the Flour Tortillas:

To prepare the tortillas for assembling the tacos, you will need to warm them up. You can do this by either heating them in a dry pan over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side. Furthermore, you can also wrap them in a damp paper towel and microwaving them for 20-30 seconds until they are soft and pliable.

Assemble the Tacos:

Lay out the warmed flour tortillas on a clean work surface. Spoon a generous amount of the cooked minced beef onto each tortilla, distributing it evenly. Drizzle a generous amount of the prepared Big Mac sauce over the beef. Furthermore, top the beef and sauce with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, finely diced pickles, and grated cheddar cheese. Moreover, if you want an extra touch of authenticity, sprinkle sesame seeds over the top of each taco.

Serve and Enjoy:

Once assembled, the BigMac Tacos are ready to be served. Finally, transfer the tacos to serving plates or a platter and serve them immediately while they are still warm.
