Discover the Taste of Greece at Zorba The Greek, Derby

My restaurant review and recommendation this month is Zorba The Greek. This hidden gem is located on Bold Lane in Derby City Centre. It truly captures the essence of Greece. From the moment I stepped in, I was transported to the Mediterranean. The blue lighting and Greek music set the perfect mood for an evening of delicious food.

What is on The Menu?

The menu at Zorba The Greek is packed with traditional Greek dishes that will make any food lover happy. The dishes that I sampled included pitta and hummus to start, moussaka and lamb souvlaki for the main course, and baklava and orange cake for dessert.

The moussaka came with a fresh salad and your choice of chips, lemon potatoes, rice or a mix of them all, for £16.99. This classic Greek dish was amazing, with layers of aubergine, minced meat, and creamy béchamel sauce.

The lamb souvlaki was served with salad, tzatziki and pita bread along with your choice of sides for £17.50. The lamb was perfectly marinated and incredibly tender. The sides were just as good, especially the creamy tzatziki and fresh pita bread.

A Mix of Delicious Sides

One of the best things about dining at Zorba The Greek is the option to choose from a variety of sides as mentioned above. You can choose from rice, chips, lemon potatoes, or a mix of all three. I opted for the mix, as I wanted to try all three side dishes and it was a great decision. The lemon potatoes were especially tasty, with a tangy and zesty flavour that went perfectly with the lamb souvlaki.

Generous Portions and Treats

The portions at Zorba The Greek are huge. We couldn’t finish everything, despite how delicious it was. We took the remainder home with us in a takeaway box. On top of that, we were treated to some dessert, we enjoyed baklava and orange cake, along with a complimentary shot to end the evening. The hospitality was fantastic and made our dining experience even more special.

A Warm and Inviting Atmosphere

Zorba The Greek has a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed night out. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Their passion for Greek cuisine and culture really shines through in every aspect of the dining experience.

A Must-Visit for Greek Food Lovers

I can’t wait to go back to Zorba The Greek and have already been telling everyone I know to check it out. If you love Greek food or are just looking for a new place to try, Zorba The Greek is a must-visit. The delicious dishes, generous portions, and exceptional hospitality make it a standout restaurant on the Derby food scene.
